Arlene S. (Hafer) Hess

Arlene S. (Hafer) Hess, 99, of Cumru Twp., PA, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Mifflin Center in Shillington, PA. Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul E. and the late Clara (Gilbert) Hafer. She was the widow of Lynnwood W. Hess.

Arlene was a homemaker most of her life, taking care of and raising her family. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and reading. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Birdsboro, PA.

Arlene is survived by her son: Leonard L. Hess, husband of Linda of Robeson Twp., PA; and grandson: Lt. Col. Douglas Downey, RET USMC, husband of Michelle.

She was predeceased by her daughter: Lynette Downey and her brother: Harold Hafer.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
