Bernice L. (Beyer) Bolter-Leins, 86, of Birdsboro, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Complete Care at Berkshire. Born in Darby, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony C. Beyer and the late Rose M. (Mullen) Beyer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and soulmate, Donald A. Leins.
Bernice worked as a secretary for Bechtel Engineering and later Walmart before retiring. In her younger years, she was an active member of St. Dennis Church in Havertown, PA, where she served as a Boy Scout Den mother and participated in the church community alongside her dear friend, Gemma Donnelly. During retirement, she attended Hope United Methodist Church in Amity, PA.
Bernice’s greatest joy was caring for those she loved. She never missed a school event or neighborhood gathering and often returned home with a new animal for her beloved mini farm. Bernice cared deeply for others and was the true definition of a “super mom.”
She was rarely without her beloved pets and is now reunited with many of them, including her cherished Akita, Kiki, and her pot-bellied pig, Arnold. Bernice welcomed strays of all kinds—whether neighborhood friends of her children or animals that seemed destined to find her.
Her children would all agree that their friends were always welcome at Mama Bolter’s house; there was never an empty couch, and the comforting smell of a hearty meal or fresh-baked treats filled her home. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to Kenny Rogers, reading James Patterson novels, and watching her favorite show, Walker, Texas Ranger.
Bernice lived simply and beautifully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her motherly love, warm smile, stubborn spirit, and wonderful sense of humor created lifelong memories for all who knew her—memories we will carry with us forever.
Bernice’s greatest gift in life was the family she created and the roles she cherished most—mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind six children: her four sons, Michael Bolter, William Bolter (Martha), Robert Bolter, and Christopher Bolter (Jillian); and her two daughters, Deanne Burk (Doug) and Patricia Caruso (Michael).
She was a loving and unforgettable “Grammy” to fourteen grandchildren: Anthony Gilardi, Steven Gilardi (Sara), Sandy DiBerardino (Denise), Richard Bolter (Emily), Samuel Bolter (Caroline), Jessica Fynes (Steve), Emily Geraghty (Joe), Nicholas Caruso, James Caruso, Christopher Caruso, Ashley Caruso, Courtney Figueroa (Damir), Elizabeth Bolter, and Andrea Bolter.
Bernice was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to Leo DiBerardino, Bently Caruso, Jayden Caruso, Delaney Bolter, Owen Bolter, Jack Bolter, Matthew Bolter, Lucas Geraghty, and William Geraghty.
These titles were the pride of her life, and her legacy will continue to live on through every member of her family who loved her so dearly.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Dengler-Sowers Funeral Home & Crematory, LLC, 144 N. Spruce St., Birdsboro, PA 19508. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 1:30 PM.
