Chester A. Bortz

Chester A. Bortz, 93, of Robeson Twp., PA passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 in the comfort of his home. He was the son of the late Jonathan G. Bortz and the late Verna R. (Benfield) Bortz. He was the widower of Janet K. (Garner) Bortz who passed in 2021.

 Chester worked in machine maintenance for Kiwi Shoe Polish in Amity Twp. He was a member of Gibraltar Fire Co. In his younger years, Chester enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean Conflict. Chester enjoyed games with his grandchildren, especially Yahtzee and Pinnacle.

 Chester is survived by his son: Chester A. Bortz, husband of Debbie of Brecknock Twp., PA; 2 daughters: Carol A. Clelland, wife of Bruce of Muhlenberg Twp., PA and Jo K. Gassert, wife of Dennis of Grill, PA; 2 brothers: Willard Bortz of Boyertown, PA and David Bortz of Oley, PA; 4 sisters: Mae Bortz of Blandon, PA, Virginia Kuser of Bern Twp., PA; Anna Conrad of Oley, PA, and Linda Kolb of Jeromeville, OH; and many grand and great grandchildren.

 He was predeceased by his brothers: Russell and Floyd Bortz; and sister: Dorothy Eidle.

 A Funeral Service will be on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00AM at the Dengler-Sowers Funeral Home & Crematory, LLC. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. A viewing will be from 10:00AM-11:00AM prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel UM Church Cemetery in Elverson, PA.

 The family requests that everyone that attends, be dressed casual.
