Dana Sue (Niederschmidt) Hickey, 75, of Douglassville, Amity Twp., PA, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, in the comfort of her home. Born in Seward, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Henry Albert and the late Dorothy Jean (Hagemoser) Niederschmidt. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Anthony Hickey, Jr., married for 54 years.
Dana enjoyed watching NASCAR and Nebraska Cornhusker football, and making wooden crafts. For many years, she tended the concession stand and was secretary for the American Legion Birdsboro Post 626 baseball field where her sons played ball. She at one time worked in the electrical engineering department for Bechtel Corporation at the Limerick nuclear power plant, and made many friends later in life when she worked at the Douglassville Redners. She was also an excellent gardener and homemaker, always decorating and hosting family for special occasions. She loved music and singing, especially her favorites Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. She took every opportunity to visit family in Nebraska for the 4th of July and Thanksgiving, and made many trips to New York City to see shows and enjoy martinis in Times Square. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving Dana are her husband, Joseph; her 2 sons: Steven James Matthew; Matthias Ashton, husband of Lisa (Schaeffer); 2 daughters: Allisan Kelly Riddle, wife of Jim; Kristen Marie Bentz, wife of Ryan; 6 grandchildren: Victoria Paige, Johnathan Scott, Christopher Joseph, Ashton Joseph Richard, Emelia-Nicole Wentworth, and Teagan Lorraine; great grandson Benjamin Isaac; and Dana was looking forward to meeting her newest granddaughter to be born to Kristen and Ryan, Chloe Jean.
