George W. Clauser, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Penn State Health St Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Seyfert, Pennsylvania, on December 1, 1937, George was the son of the late George E. and Elsie (Ganster) Clauser.
George made his home at Celebration Villa in Exeter, where he was known for his warm smile, quiet strength, and kind heart. He spent most of his life in Amity Township, where he built his own home and raised his family. He was a member of St. Paul’s UCC Church in Amityville, PA and a member of the Republican party. He also served as a township supervisor in Amity Township.
George proudly served in the U.S. Army, spending 31 months in Europe. After his military service, he became the proud owner of his own construction company, Clauser Building, and also worked at Firestone, General Mills (ALPO), and Custom Modular. He was an active member of Optimist International for many years and was proud to be a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Carol (Branning) Clauser and Nancy (Krebs) Clauser; his son, George Jr.; his brother, Rodney.
He is survived by five children: Lynn, wife of Thomas Schiel Jr. of Green Bay, WI., Jean wife of Joseph Kelleher, of Reading, Joan, wife of Joseph Harvey, of Phoenixville, Tammy, wife of Anthony Yednock, of Douglassville, James Reed, and his fiancée Terri Kramer of Red Hill, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Efstratia (Yannakos) Clauser, widow of his late son George Jr., his brothers, David (Patricia Fazio) and Larry (Anne Chambers), sister-in-law, Alice (Read) Clauser, wife of his late brother Rodney; and former wife, Joan (Durco) Clauser.
A viewing will be on Sunday evening, July 26, 2026 from 7:00pm-8:30pm at the Dengler-Sowers Funeral Home & Crematory, LLC. 144 N. Spruce St. Birdsboro, PA 19508. An additional viewing will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 from 9:45am-10:30am with the funeral service starting at 10:30am. Burial will be in Coventryville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Daniel Boone Optimist Club, P.O. Box 98, Douglassville, PA 19518.
