Lee Francis Honnen, Sr.

Lee Francis Honnen, Sr., 89, of Douglassville, PA, went home to our Lord on February 28th, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Lee was born on October 4th, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, where the love of his life would be born just 4 days later. They grew up just streets apart in Philadelphia, but wouldn’t begin their journey of love and life until years later.

In 1955, Lee met Violet Regina Deal at a skating party. While Lee fell for Violet almost instantly, it took Violet a little while to give in to his charm. Since their marriage in 1956, they have been lifelong partners. To say Lee was a loving and devoted family man doesn’t begin to describe him. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Violet, children Gail (Lou), Dawn (Bill), David, and Lee (Ivy), grandchildren Melody (David), Mark (Megan), Ben, Emily, Josh, Ryan (Kelly), and Amanda (Andres), great grandchildren Leah, Beth, Banks and Palmer.

Lee graduated from Lincoln High School in Philadelphia in 1954, and later attended a year of college. While Lee had numerous jobs throughout his life starting with a soda jerk, he loved working as a compositor at the Bucks County Courier Times the most and even owned his own printing press. But he also enjoyed his work at several delis, driving a school bus, and driving a delivery truck for an auto parts store. He was also a volunteer fireman, and a true Jack of all trades.

Lee was a force of nature: determined to provide for his family and give them the life he believed they deserved. Lee had many loves in life, but his love for his family and our Lord shone above all. When he would combine them, his smile and laugh brought love and warmth to all. When his children were young, Lee enjoyed spending time around the family pool. He loved to go on cruises with his wife and spend time with his family in Ocean City where he enjoyed fishing, telling stories, grilling & cooking and, of course, eating. He also enjoyed reading, woodworking, puzzles, creating his model train display, history, airplanes and conversing with people.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of the charities that Lee felt a strong belief in supporting: St. Judes Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
