LeRoy O. Sandland, 92, of Douglassville, Amity Twp., PA, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in his home. Born in Moorhead, MN, he was the son of late Otto and the late Lucille M. (Gardner) Sandland. He was the loving husband of Margaret M. (Faust) Sandland.
LeRoy served our country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce and finance and two Government Master’s Certificates.
LeRoy worked as the Director of Transportation for the G.S.A in Washington D.C. for 14yrs. before being transferred to Philadelphia to operate the Regional Headquarters until he retired in 1986. In retirement, he took a job with Owen J. Roberts School District, as Head of Transportation until he fully retired in 2003.
He enjoyed working in the garden, genealogy, anything related to transportation, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. LeRoy will always be remembered for initiating hundreds of email chains between his family and friends.
In addition to his wife Margaret, LeRoy is survived by 3 sons: Christopher Sandland, husband of Judy, William Duffield, husband of Gwen, and Brian Duffield, husband of Janice; 2 daughters: Susan Kelly and Caroline DeCray, wife of James; 2 brothers: John and Gordon Sandland; 3 sisters: Carolyn Brogren, Rosemary Dallman, and Kathryn Metcalf; 12 grandchildren: Zachary, Jake, Morgan, Katie, Caroline, Jacob, Lorelei, Corey, Colin, Benjamin, Ethan, and Claire; and 2 great grandchildren: Reagan and Christopher.
He was predeceased by his brother: Joseph Sandland and 3 sisters: Lois Peterson, Donna, Metcalf, and Beverly Anstadt.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
